Ben Dubowski

During the First World War, Ben Dubowski was imprisoned as a conscientious objector.

He then devoted himself to organising clothing workers in East London, and for a number of years was secretary of No. 2 Branch of the Tailor & Garment Workers’ Union. During the 1930s, he was active in educational and cultural work at house of the Jewish Circle and elsewhere in East London.

Dubowski was a Daily Worker film critic, operating under the pen name of Dave Bennett, and  also Benn, the dramatic and film critic of the New Leader, writing for many other working-class papers under various pen-names.

He died in 1936
