Ted Rowlands 

 

An engineering worker and shop steward for the AEU, Rowlands was an active Communist Party member in Newcastle.

 

He stood as the Communist candidate for a Newcastle Council by-election in St. Anthony's Ward, held on July 13th 1961, along with Tom Stevenson.

 

Rowlands had stood in the May 1961 election as the Communist candidate for Walker ward, securing 214 votes.
