Betty Baker

Betty was born on July 14 1921 in Hackney to Charles and Holly Franklin; having an older brother, Charlie, and two younger sisters, Stella and Olive.

She worked at the Daily Worker, at Central Books and for 57 years with ETV until her retirement at the age of 80.

Betty was married to Bert Baker, who as Stewart Lane, was Daily Worker and Morning Star journalist and features editor.

On her retirement, she continued her political commitment by being the treasurer of “Green Socs”.

Betty Baker died aged 88 on December 28th 2009.
