Tuchfield Doris

Doris Tuchfield

Born in 1900, Doris was the head stenographer at the Daily Worker and later the Morning Star, where she worked for over 36 years.

She had joined the staff of the paper in 1943 and retired on her 80th birthday.

Doris joined the Communist party in 1936 and was nominated for membership by Marjorie Pollitt, wife of the General Secretary.

She worked for the Engineering Shop Stewards National Council in the early stages of the Second World War.

Doris died in 1986.
