John Courcouf
In the 1930s, John Courcouf first got involved in politics on being especially concerned about the rise of fascism. A veteran of the
A shopworker by occupation, and married with three daughters, Courcouf lived in Leyton after being demobbed from the army in 1946.
For 15 years, he was secretary of Leyton Trades Council, until the new Borough of
The Chair of Leyton Communist Party, he stood for the Party for the local council on many occasions.

In later years, he became a committed health campaigner, being instrumental in setting up
He was also involved in anti-racist campaigns, CND and the Greater
Courcouf was 91 when he died on February 14th 2002.
